"Did ya hear about. . . . . ."

Here it is . .. my first blog. YAY! Everyone is blogging, right? So, if all the cool kids are doin' it. . .well, you know the rest. hahaha  Now that I have a blog of my own,  I had to think of what to write. I mean I needed to say SOMETHING. And can ya believe it. . .I couldn't think of a thing to say. ME, Mrs. chatter box. As I was considering what to say in my blog, I started thinking about stuff people talk about. I came to the realization that mostly people talk about people. Hopefully it's all good and uplifting, but not always, right! This got me really thinking about the "G" word. You know. . .gossip! It just kinda goes along with talking, well, at least talking too much. One of my favorite bible verses says it best (hahaha, and why wouldn't it say it "best". . .I mean it's God talking, right)! Anyway, I digress. . .the verse says:
"Don't talk too much, for it fosters sin. Be sensible and turn off the flow!" Proverbs 10:19  isn't that a hoot!.  .I love the NLT bible. . right to the point.

As you can probably guess by now. . .my first blog is going to be about Gossip. . .so laugh with me while we learn something together. . . here goes. . . .

Gossip is pretty much a peculiar thing. It's so wrong, and yet so popular. I mean we've all done it. Even men gossip. Although people will say that women do it more. I think that is just because, men only speak about 7,000 words a day compared to women's whopping 20,000. It's not our fault, I mean we need to meet our quota, right? So I guess in thinking of things to say to get to our 20,000 words a day. . people in our social circle get thrown under the bus a little.

My Dad raised three girls and four boys. Back in the day we had a phone that not only had a dial and was attached to a wall, but the receiver (the part ya talk into and hear out of) was attached to the phone base by a spiral cord (that would always get tangled up, what was up with that? If they can come up with the technology to enable people who are thousands of miles away from each other to have a little chat, can't they figure out how to keep the silly cord from tangling up all the time. Oh, I guess they DID. . .the good ol' cordless phone. GOOD job guys, thanks!. . .but again, I digress). Okay, so my Dad as wise as he was (and is) would always say if you are talking for longer than 10 minutes you are gossiping. WOW! Really, that just can't be true. But for the most part it is. I mean after ya tell the person what you are calling about and cover the weather, and such. . .ya don't want to hang up so soon, so ya start thinking about stuff to say. Before ya know it you are all "hey, did you see what so and so was wearing the other day? Dude, what was she THINKING? I mean did she actually think she looked good. . .of course knowing HER, she WOULD think she looked good. . . ..blah, blah, blah. And texting is no different. . .except, now our hurtful words are documented somewhere. YIKES!!

Personally I find the "concerned" gossip interesting. YOU know, the person who says can you keep so and so in prayer. . .I am concerned about them because they. . .blah, blah, blah. Like we can't just say keep a friend of mine in prayer. . .like God doesn't know the person or situation. I am pretty sure that you can just ask God to intervene in this friends situation without naming names or telling God just what situation He is gonna work on. After all, there a pretty good chance He already knows. =)

So, you may think what's life without a little dirt on someone once in a while. . .I guess we should strive to find out. . for us women we might just find that our daily word's quota will drop by a few thousand. lol  What will we do with all that extra time. . . any one up for some origami. bahahahahahah! I will leave you with this:

In the words of the great Eleanor Roosevelt:
"Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people."

. . . .My Thoughts Exactly. . .

until next time . . .happy chattin'
Be blessed,
Daphy
